SFGthreeweeksA.JPG

This photo shows the garden three weeks after planting, as seen from the northeast. The farthest and right-hand rows mostly hold the planted starts while the other squares were directly seeded. The nearest row contains three squares of mixed lettuce and a single square of snow-peas, all planted from seed. The farthest row contains cucumber and tomato starts, in cages. Because the maple tree which shades the garden also inhibits rain, there is faster growth in on the front left corner in this photo. Dropped green samarae from the maple an clearly be seen, and some of these were allowed to sit on the garden, creating a bit of surface mold on an ill-advised top-dressing of coffee grounds (in the center squares especially). Oops!
